Pendle is a destination with much to offer. Its stunning local landscapes have witnessed much intriguing history; but there is also plenty going on today. It’s a borough of contrast and complexity, packed with diversity of people and place. And it continues to change. 

It’s home to a number of successful high-tech engineering businesses, including the Rolls-Royce factory in Barnoldswick which is a major local employer. But it’s also a place of stark differences and closing the economic gaps that persist within our communities is a priority for the council and its partners. We’re working to encourage economic growth and development that is right for our borough; that creates opportunities for our communities; and that is in keeping with our commitments to preserving our natural environment and responding to the challenges of climate change.

Whoever takes on this role will have a part to play across all these aspects of the Council’s work, and more.
